Sunday, June 20th, 12-5pm – “Thread Bound Books” with Mary Uthuppuru
use needle and thread to craft books in three different styles – walk away with finished books and the knowledge of how to make books by hand
Cost: $20, includes all materials – cut, prepped, and ready for you! (Mary is doing alot of the prep work so you can focus on skill acquisition and making your books, but you will know how to do all parts)
Please R.S.V.P. at information@thecollaborationroom.org
All ages and skill levels are welcome to attend
In this workshop, participants will learn how to use cloth and alternative materials to make three small books, gaining working knowledge of bookbinding basics as well as experimental techniques. Sewing and fabric will play a variety of roles in each of the presented structures. Participants will create three books: a moleskin-like book made from reused and household materials; a small book that will use fabric as the pages, experimenting with decoration on cloth; and a paste cloth book.
Materials are provided. Bring paper and fabric to experiment with if you wish. We’ll take a short break in the afternoon for coffee and snacks.
