BloomingLabs is venturing outside the Collaboration Room again. This time to host a microphone building workshop presented by the circuit-bending rock band, CMKT4. $15 and some basic soldering will leave you walking out with your very own contact microphone. CMKT4 will play a set of rock and roll music while the tool-handle dip that insulates the microphone dries.

Yo, Wonderlab. BloomingLabs knows you like robots, so we’re bringing our Lab to your Lab, so we can all build robots while you hold your robotics fest.

BloomingLabs is heading to Wonderlab for Metal Mayhem: Festival of Robotics.

There will be all types of robotics related activities to choose from, but BloomingLabs will be building BeetleBots and then seeing how well they hold up when they are all bumping around the same space. You’ll have the chance to use hot glue guns, soldering irons, and possibly experience the soothing characteristics of the Aloe plant.

Help us assemble BeetleBots using soldering irons and hot glue guns, and then test and adjust the BeetleBots as they perform on a tabletop arena. Visitors will receive instructions for building a BeetleBot at home.

BloomingLabs meets every Wednesday @ the Collaboration Room from 7pm to 10pm. It’s very informal, so swing by to see what we’re up to, or bring your own projects.

The vacuum former is amazing. It’s what we used to make the molds for the soap. It quickly became a game of “OOH! Let’s make a mold of THIS now!“.

Some cool pop-up cards and some sturdy tote-bags were constructed, as well, but we didn’t get any good pics of the totes. There was a good one of my hair-cut, but I didn’t think it was relevant enough to post. . . unless I can figure out a way to make a vacuum mold of it.

We’ll probably be in and out of the hackerspace this weekend, so stop in if you see the lights on.

Otherwise, every Wednesday from 7pm -10pm-ish.
